Mechanical Behavior of Two-Side Bolted Steel Plate Shear Wall Considering Top-Seat Constraints with Frame Beams

چکیده

A steel plate shear wall (SPSW) is a useful component for resisting lateral action. To improve the performance of frame columns, some studies focus on two-side connected SPSW, in which not with columns. However, few conducted SPSW consider effect constraints or connections between infill plates and beams. In this study, by using finite element modeling (FEM), two unstiffened models fixed six bolt were simulated. Their under presence out-of-plane beam flange different numbers bolts beams was analyzed. The mechanical performances such as hysteretic behaviors, capacity energy dissipation deformation members investigated applying monotonic cyclic loading. results revealed that non-negligible would be generated at border could significantly affected constraints. These findings can guide engineering design SPSWs future.

Seismic Behavior of Intermediate Beams in Steel Plate Shear Walls

This paper presents some preliminary results of an ongoing research whose objective is to investigate the seismic behavior of intermediate beams (i.e., the beams other than those at the roof and foundation levels) in multi-story steel plate shear walls (SPSWs). Of primary interest is the determination of the strength level needed to avoid the formation of in-span plastic hinges, a relevant prac...

Comparison of plasticity and stiffness of steel shear walls with composite steel plate shear wall

The steel shear wall and composite steel plate shear wall is introduced in recent three decade and is considered and is spread rapidly. Composite steel plate shear wall which is made of a layer of thin steel sheet with coating of reinforced concrete in one or both sides of steel palate is considered a third generation of resistance shear walls against lateral loads that in addition to increasin...

Performance-Based Plastic Design of Moment Frame-Steel Plate Shear Wall as a Dual System

Steel Plate Shear Wall (SPSW) is an emerging seismic load-resistant system that, compared to other systems, enjoys the advantages of stable ductile behavior, fewer detailing requirements, rapid constructability, and economy. American seismic provisions decree that a SPSW should be designed as a moment frame with a web infill plate. Specifically, in case of buildings taller than 160 ft, it decre...

Corner Crack Effect on the Seismic Behavior of Steel Plate Shear Wall System

Although, experimental studies have reported fracture at the corner of Steel Plate Shear Walls (SPSW), no study has been performed to investigate the crack effect, yet. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of crack at the corner of SPSWs on the seismic behavior of the system was investigated. Two probable cracks, that have been studies at the corner of SPSWs utilizing extended Finite Element me...

Design of Steel Plate Shear Walls Considering Boundary Frame Moment Resisting Action

Conventional design of steel plate shear walls SPSWs assumes that 100% of the story shear is resisted by each infill panel. Following this approach, strength provided by the boundary frame moment resisting action, which provides the SPSW with overstrength, is neglected. While this design assumption has a positive impact on seismic performance of SPSWs, no analytical work has been done to quanti...
